Dr. Wael Al Abdulla
School Principal
Highly accomplished and passionate Senior Principal Scientist with expertise in Nano and micro metrology at the Australia National Fabrication Facility (University of Queensland). Published over 55 papers, holds 6 industrial patents, and led multiple grant projects. Awarded Australia Endeavour Fellowship in 2006 and recognized for outstanding contributions to the scientific community.
Dedicated community leader, founder of the Iraqi Unity Association Queensland, and co-founder of a volunteer Arabic School promoting cultural preservation and inclusivity.
His hobbies in reading, playing chess, table tennis, and gardening exemplify his love for learning and nurturing growth. These activities have instilled in him the patience, creativity, and adaptability necessary for effective teaching.
As an educator, he is dedicated to inspiring and empowering students. his key principles revolve around nurturing their curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and fostering an environment where every student feels valued and motivated to excel. He firmly believes that education is a powerful tool for transforming lives.

Mrs. Aliaa Hassan

My name is Aliaa Hassan. I am the new Arabic teacher for Grade two and three at the Islamic College of Brisbane. I would like to introduce myself by giving you some information about my professional back ground.
In 1994, I completed a B.A. in Specific Education – Department of Kindergarten, Suez Canal University, Egypt.
In 1995, I have worked at Al-Nahda National Schools, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for three years teaching Arabic and Islamic studies for kindergarten.
In 1999, I have worked as an early childhood educator for three years at University Crèche, University of Auckland, New Zealand.
In 2011, I completed my Masters of Education degree in special Education – Faculty of Education in the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. My working experience includes working in different countries including UAE, New Zealand and Australia. My experience covers teaching Arabic to Native Arabic and Non-Arabic speaking students. I participated in voluntarily teaching in community schools both in New Zealand and Australia.
In 2014, I re-joined Al Nahda National School in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and worked as an Arabic and Islamic studies coordinator for kindergarten Department for about 3 years.
2017, I worked as an Arabic teacher for primary students at the Islamic college of Brisbane.
My greatest attributes are that I’m hardworking and self-motivated. I feel the ownership of what I’m doing. I relate easily to people. I am believe in kinaesthetic learning environment where students perform physical activities rather than listen to lectures or watch demonstrations. Implementing 21st century educational strategies such as cooperative learning techniques, hands-on activities, critical thinking and promoting innovation.
I am very excited about my upcoming time here at the Islamic College of Brisbane. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know more about both you and your child.

Hello, my name is Hajir. I’m a hardworking and motivated person with a background in mechanical engineering, and I have many years of experience in tutoring, teaching, and office work. I love helping others—especially children—learn and grow. I believe that students learn best by doing, so I use hands-on activities and group work to keep them active and engaged.
I enjoy working with people from different cultures and backgrounds. Teaching Arabic is something I’m very passionate about because it helps keep our language, culture, and traditions alive.
I’m really excited to be part of the Arabic Language School of Brisbane and to work with both students and their families. Balancing work, family, and study has made me more organized and committed to making a positive difference..

With my blend of academic achievements and practical skills, I can bring a well-rounded approach to everything I do.
I have a really strong passion for helping people who need my help. Always eager to lend a hand. Enjoy interacting with others, building meaningful connections, and learning from diverse perspectives. My love for cooking often brings people together in the most heart warming way.

Good Day, My Name is Aseel, I was born in Jordan within highly Arabic family lovers. And I’m carrying
my love of Arabic language along the way of my life.
I finished my bachelor degree in computer engineering on 2013, since then I have been dedicated in
teaching the kids computer skills as well as Arabic language. Taking the responsibility of teaching and
supporting the kids to maintain and develop their skills in Arabic language in simple and practical
ways.
My passion is supporting people especially kids and put them on the right way for all aspects.
Teaching Arabic language is the most important one, because it is a strong tool to learn our culture,
dealing with our relatives, community, and save the kids from being isolated from our rich history.
I’m feeling very excited to meet the kids again to start another interesting journey.

Dr Yahya T Qassim
Treasurer of ALSQ
Yahya has been working as the treasurer for the Arabic Language School Queensland (ALSQ), the non-profit organisation that was founded in mid-2020 to teach Arabic to children aged 6 to 12.
Yahya received his BSc in electrical engineering in 1994 and MSc in computer engineering in 2004 both from the University of Mosul in Iraq. He worked as a lecturer at the University of Modul for the 9 years before he completed his PhD degree in electronics engineering at Griffith University in Australia in 2014. He worked in tutoring and in the academic research for the years 2015-2019 at the same University. He has authored over 20 publications in the field of biomedical signals, digital design and FPGA implementations in peer reviewed journals and international proceedings. He has been working in the field of Electrical vehicle (EV) chargers’ industry as a Senior PCBA/ Electronics Engineer since October 2021.

Dr. Issa Medraj

I love exploring the world around me and making sense of it. I use different processes like observing, communicating, predicting….. That is what teaching and research about and that is me. I taught science in different countries and I worked in scientific research (Molecular biology) in Australia for 11 years, then I went back to my first love, Teaching.
I enjoy teaching students how to make sense of the world around them and to engage in observing and interacting. I love watching the joy of exploration and curiosity in the eyes of my students.

Yusra

Yusra is a PhD candidate at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, University of Queensland.
Yusra is working to develop wound healing sensors that will help people with chronic wounds. Yusra is also a pioneer for Hikmah 4 Kids, an Islamic Educational program in North of Brisbane that runs weekly for children and has conducted several short courses for kids related to Ramadan, Hajj etc. In her free time, Yusra likes to travel, play sports and talk about science!
